If you have dental anxiety, you need to be treated by a dentist knowledgeable in sedation and anesthesiology. Fortunately, Galleria of Smiles has two:
- Dr. M. Emami at our Sand Springs, OK dental office completed a fellowship with the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation.
- Dr. Justin Emami at our Tulsa, OK dental office is involved with the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM) and the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology (ADSA), and Dental organization for Conscious Sedation.
No matter which of our locations you visit, you will receive kind, compassionate care that minimizes your dental anxiety. Through sedation dentistry, you can experience your treatments comfortably because Galleria of Smiles treats your dental anxiety with sedation first, and then takes on the task of treating your teeth.
IV Sedation To Completely Relax You
Galleria of Smiles can keep you comfortable with IV sedation. IV sedation requires special certification and is our deepest level of dental sedation.
You can think of being under IV sedation as entering a dreamlike state. You’ll still be conscious, just less present. If you have any memories from your treatment, they will be in soft focus. The less you remember from your treatment, the less likely you are to experience future dental anxiety over time.
IV sedation is a popular choice for patients undergoing longer or more involved procedures such as same day smiles, implant therapy, full-mouth reconstruction, oral surgery, and gum recession treatment. You’ll want to arrange for a ride home following your treatment, as the effects of IV sedation can take a while to wear off.
For lighter sedation, we also offer oral sedation and nitrous oxide. Oral sedation is a pill we prescribe you, which will allow you to arrive at our dental office already in a relaxed state. And like IV sedation, you’ll need a ride home from our dental office.
Nitrous oxide is our lightest level of dental sedation. You’ll breathe it in, and it will make you feel warm and happy, but it will wear off shortly after your treatment is complete.
We can also use local anesthesia to numb the area of your mouth we’re working on.
