We Can Help You Overcome Your Dental Anxiety
Healthy teeth are just one part of a healthy body. The only way to know for sure your teeth, gums, and bones are healthy is to visit a dentist. But what if just the thought of going to a dentist office leaves you paralyzed with fear?
If you suffer from dental anxiety, you’re not alone. It is estimated that anxiety or fear causes between 9% and 20% of Americans to avoid going to the dentist.
As overwhelming as your anxiety may feel, you shouldn’t let it keep you from taking care of your teeth and your overall health. At Galleria of Smiles, your Sand Springs, OK dentist office, we can help you overcome dental anxiety, feel more relaxed at the dentist, and get the treatment you need for a healthy mouth.
Dr. M. Emami, who leads our team at the Sand Springs, OK dental office completed a fellowship with the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation. What that means for you is that when you visit our office, we’ll work hard to make sure you’re completely comfortable and at ease before starting and continuing your treatment.
We are proud to offer sedation dentistry in our practice, to ensure we can offer you kind, compassionate, and gentle care that eases your worries and fears.
Sedation Dentistry In Sand Springs, OK
At Galleria of Smiles, we’re able to offer you IV sedation to keep you comfortable throughout your treatment. Because IV sedation requires a special certification, not every dentist office can offer it. But at Galleria of Smiles, we’re proud to offer the deepest level of dental sedation possible.
The best way for us to describe IV sedation to our patients is to think of it as being in a dreamlike state. You’ll be conscious, but mentally and emotionally you’ll be less present. There’s a good chance you won’t have any memories at all of the treatment and if you do, they’ll feel more like a dream than a memory.
This is great news if you have dental anxiety because the less you remember, the less likely you are to have dental anxiety moving forward. Over time, you may see your dental anxiety symptoms diminish.
IV sedation is commonly used for patients who are getting longer or more extensive treatments like our same day smile, dental implants, full-mouth reconstruction, gum recession treatment, or oral surgery.
Because the effects of IV sedation can take a little while to wear off, you’ll want to arrange for someone to give you a ride home after your treatment.
Nitrous Oxide & Oral Sedation
If you prefer something a little lighter but still need some help relaxing, we also offer nitrous oxide and oral sedation. Nitrous oxide is the mildest form of dental sedation we offer. You’ll gently breathe in the nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas, and almost instantly feel cozy, happy, and relaxed.
We also offer oral sedation, which is a form of sedation between nitrous oxide and IV sedation. If it’s determined that oral sedation is the right option for you, you’ll take it before your appointment so that by the time you arrive at our Sand Springs, OK dental office, you’ll already feel relaxed and at ease. Like with IV sedation, you’ll need a ride home from the office after your procedure while the sedative wears off.
We will also use a local anesthetic to numb the area we are working on to make sure you don’t feel a bit of pain. Your health and happiness are our top priorities. We will work hard to make sure you feel completely comfortable during your time at our office.
