In the 1950s, Dr. Per-Ingvar Bränemark made a discovery — accidentally — that would revolutionize restorative dentistry. That discovery led to the development of dental implants.
Bränemark was studying blood flow in rabbits. In the course of his research, he learned that bone would bond directly to titanium. He used this knowledge to perform the first successful placement of a modern dental implant.
Today, dental implants are used with dental crowns, dental bridges, and dentures to replace teeth all over the world, including our Sand Springs dentist office in Oklahoma.
