Dental Veneers: The Ultimate Whitening Solution When All Else Fails
Have you tried several over-the-counter teeth whitening kits with no success? Did professional teeth whitening fail to give you the white teeth you desire? There could be several factors contributing to your inability to see results.
It can be frustrating to put a lot of effort into something and see no results. It’s essentially a waste of your time and money, and there are few things more frustrating than that!
At Galleria of Smiles, we can help you finally get the results you’re looking for. We’ll first get to the bottom of why teeth whitening solutions haven’t worked for you, then come up with a way to give you a bright, beautiful smile.
But first, why hasn’t teeth whitening worked for you?
Why Won’t Teeth Whitening Work For Me?
In most cases, teeth whitening solutions will work to remove stains caused by food, drinks, and smoking. But there are some stains that even professional teeth whitening treatments can’t fix, including:
- Discoloration caused by thin enamel
- Tooth enamel imperfections
- Tooth infection or decay
- Discoloration from metal amalgam fillings
- Staining caused by some antibiotics
- Discoloration caused by tooth trauma
If you’re still left with stained or discolored teeth after a whitening treatment, you may want to consider dental veneers to get the results you’re looking for.
What Are Dental Veneers?
Dental veneers are thin shell-like pieces of porcelain that are placed over your natural teeth to hide flaws and imperfections.
Most often, dental veneers are used to repair:
- Minor gaps between teeth
- Discolored teeth
- Slightly crooked teeth
- Misshapen teeth
- Cracked teeth
- Small chips in teeth
- Uneven gumline
- Uneven enamel
Whether your smile is afflicted by one or several of the issues above, dental veneers can work wonders to give you a brand new look.
How Can Dental Veneers Whiten My Smile?
Dental veneers can be applied to one or multiple teeth. They’re most often used on the front teeth that are visible when you smile, to improve the overall appearance of your smile.
When getting dental veneers, the first step involves quite a bit of planning. During your initial consultation, it’s important that you share the results you’re hoping to achieve. We’ll look at your teeth to make sure you’re a good candidate for dental veneers and go over the treatment process so you know what to expect. If necessary, we will take X-rays and impressions of your mouth and teeth.
The next step involves preparing your tooth for the veneer. We’ll remove a small amount of enamel from the surface of the tooth to accommodate the thickness of the dental veneer. We’ll use a local anesthetic to make sure you’re comfortable and don’t feel a bit of pain.
We’ll then create a model of your tooth that is sent to a lab to make the veneer.
Approximately two to four weeks later, you’ll return to our office to have the veneers bonded to your teeth. If necessary, we can apply temporary veneers until your permanent ones are ready.
When it’s time to cement the veneer to your tooth, we’ll first make sure the fit and color match what you’re looking for. We can make adjustments as needed.
Next, we’ll prepare your tooth by cleaning, polishing, and etching the surface to ensure a strong bond. We’ll apply a special cement to the veneer then place the veneer on your tooth. Once it’s in the right place, we’ll use a special light to activate the chemicals, causing it to harden.
We will make any final adjustments if needed, then you’re free to enjoy your brand new smile!
