Jordan and Her Gum Disease Nightmare, Part 2
Galleria of Smiles in the Tulsa, OK area is focused on helping our patients prevent oral health issues from affecting their smiles. Dr. Justin and Dr. M. Emami work tirelessly to help put you and your smile in a position to succeed. That is why we are sharing the story of Jordan.
We are now onto the second leg of Jordan’s gum disease journey. For those that are just now joining us, let’s take second and get you caught up. Jordan is a normal young woman living in Tulsa, OK. She works in the city, lives in the city, and basically does everything in the city. She takes care of her teeth about as well as she can, though she could do better (flossing and mouthwash are important for preventing dental issues).
One day, Jordan noticed that her gums were bleeding after brushing them. This gave her a quick sense of alarm, but that is about it. She brushed it off as something that will take care of itself. She will just be sure to brush lighter going forward to keep her gums from bleeding. What she doesn’t know is that this is the first symptom of gum disease, and can be easily taken care of with a simple visit to Dr’s Justin and Mehrdad Emami of Galleria of Smiles.
Jordan’s Problems Are Beginning To Get Worse
It has been years since Jordan realized that her gums were bleeding after she was finished with her morning brushing routine. She noticed it but did nothing about it. As time passed, she came to the point where she simply doesn’t notice it anymore. One day she was looking in the mirror, and she noticed that her gums looked more red than pink. They seemed to slightly swollen and were a little uncomfortable.
What Jordan is experiencing is another symptom of gingivitis. The beginning is the bleeding gums, and now she is into the swollen and inflamed gum tissue. She is still in the gingivitis stage, so she could still seek treatment from Galleria of Smiles and restore the health of her smile.
Jordan realizes that with this new symptom, something needs to be done. Jordan, being the organized person that she is, mapped out what her next steps are going to be, and gets to work trying to revive the health of her gum tissue.
BUT… Jordan Has a Plan
Now, a good plan for Jordan would include an immediate call to Galleria of Smiles at either our Tulsa office at 918-302-2401 or our Sand Springs location at 918-245-5976. Either one of them will give Jordan (or you) the help you need to get your gums back to a healthy state. Do you think that Jordan, and her years of dental office absences, thought to seek help at Galleria of Smiles? If you answered no, you are correct.
Jordan’s plan painfully omitted the one element that it needed, the office visit with Drs. Justin and Mehrdad Emami. What it did include was the addition of mouthwash. She chose a brand with a high level of alcohol content, believing that the worst it tasted, the more it was working. She also began to floss occasionally. Both of these are great things to begin doing, but they are half measures when it comes to bringing your gum tissue out of the grasp of advanced gingivitis.
Let Drs. Justin and Mehrdad Emami Bring Your Smile Back From The Brink
Gingivitis is a big problem for your smile, but it is not a killer of your smile. What comes after gingivitis is the killer of your smile. Galleria of Smiles will clear your gum tissue of the bacteria that is causing your gum disease through a deep cleaning that will reach all of the areas that your toothbrush doesn’t. This cleaning will also remove the stubborn plaque and tartar that is holding on after your morning brushings are over.
Root planing is also done to prepare your teeth for new gum material to take hold of. Removing these rough spots on your tooth roots will remove both bacteria and the spots that bacteria latch onto. All of this will help you and your smile escape the grasp of gingivitis.
Call either of our two area Galleria of Smiles locations today. You can reach our Tulsa office at (918) 496-8010 or contact our Sand Springs campus at (918) 245-5976.
