Everyone knows that orthodontic care doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time and some patience to get through the treatment, but in the long run, it makes a huge difference in your smile.

How would you feel if we told you that it may be possible to transform your smile in as little as six months? As part of our short-term orthodontic services, we offer Six Month Smiles.

As its name suggests, this treatment takes about a half a year to change smiles. For many adults, this makes it an attractive option.

If you’ve been wishing your smile was straighter, call 918-999-0145 to schedule a consultation with a dentist at our Sand Springs, OK, location or fill out our online form. Galleria of Smiles is here to help you create the smile that you want to see.

Cosmetic Orthodontic Care

If your image of orthodontics is a teenager wearing braces, then we don’t blame you. For a long time, orthodontic care has been a rite of passage for many young people.

And yet, that is changing. According to the American Association of Orthodontics, 1 in 5 orthodontic patients is now 21 or older. Part of the reason for that is the rise of short-term orthodontic options such at Six Month Smiles.

You can still get full orthodontic treatments if you prefer, but short-term orthodontics is generally focused more on the cosmetic benefits of making your teeth straighter.

And most people would agree that straight teeth make smiles look nicer. Focusing on that is what makes Six Month Smiles work so well.

How Six Month Smiles Works

To understand what makes this orthodontic treatment different from traditional braces or even Invisalign®, all you need to do is look in the mirror. (If you don’t have one nearby, feel free to take a selfie. Just make sure you show your teeth when you smile.)

What do you see?

More specifically, what teeth do you see? Primarily you see a handful of teeth at the front of your mouth. These are the ones that have the biggest effect on the appearance of your smile. These are the ones that have the biggest impact on your smile.

So, it makes sense that if you could move those teeth, they could change how your smile looks. And as we’ve witnessed several times at Galleria of Smiles, that can give patients more confidence about their smiles.

At its most basic level, Six Month Smiles are braces. They use clear brackets (making them more discreet than traditional metal braces) and wires to move those teeth in the front of your mouth.

These teeth are your incisors and canines. From a functional standpoint, incisors are used to bite or cut into food. Canines help you grip your food. In comparison to your bicuspids and molars, the incisors and canines are smaller and lighter. That makes a difference in this treatment as well.

Since we don’t need to change the position of your molars to change your smile, Six Month Smiles gives us a method for moving the smaller teeth that are on display when you smile.

As a result, these teeth can be moved more quickly when they are the only teeth we are trying to move.

And that means that you can create the smile you want to see in less time.

What Six Month Smiles Can Do

We want to reiterate that Six Month Smiles is a mostly used to fix cosmetic issues with smiles. With that said, there is a lot that this treatment could do for you.

You can close gaps between your teeth. You also can create a little room between crowded teeth.

You can get crooked teeth in line, and you can fix overbites and underbites.

But Six Month Smiles can’t do any of these things until you decide that you are ready to do something about your smile. If something about your smile has been bothering you for years, then Six Month Smiles may be an efficient and cost-effective way to make a change.

To find out if short-term orthodontics are right for you, start by making an appointment at Galleria of Smiles. You can do this by requesting a consultation online or by calling 918-999-0145.

If you can take that first step, you will be on your way to completing your journey to a new smile.
